The name comes from the Philippines, which King Philip II

. Spanish explorer Ruy Lpez de Villalobos on his expedition in 1542 named the islands of Leyte and Samar Felipinas after then Prince of Asturias, Spain. Eventually the name Las Islas Filipinas should be used to cover all the islands. Before it was a day of work, other names such as the Balearic islands in the west of the West and the name of Magellan islands of San Lazaro also used to refer to the Spanish islands.

The official name of the Philippines has changed several times during the country history. Manila, Cebu, Palawan, Boracay, and Baguio are the most visited cities in Philippines. The important cultural and political events including the feast of Black Nazarene take place in Manila which is the capital of the country. Bagiuo acts as its summer capital. Horse riding, boating, and many other outdoor sports are offered by this place. Another main festival happening here is the flower festival which serves as the garden show.


Cebu, the oldest colonial city comprises some well-known tourist spots like University of San Carols, Kawasan falls, and Fort Santiago. Palawan is indisputably the best tourist location in the Philippines. It is famous for its blue water, Calauit Island in the north Palawan and the Tabon Caves in the south. White sand beaches are found here which is divided in to 3 stations.
