Phoenix Security Tips: Teaching Kids To Deal With Strangers
Security tips aren't just for adults. Children should also learn important safety tips, so that they will be able to adequately handle situations when their parents are not around, according to Phoenix security experts.
There are several safety tips for kids dealing with strangers. Phoenix security officials know that this is something all parents worry about when their children travel to and from school or go to parks, shops, or anywhere else by themselves. Since it is not possible to be with them always, parents need to ensure that they educate their child properly about the possible situations that may arise on the road when they are by themselves and how to tackle them.
Below are some simple and important safety tips for kids dealing with strangers:
Always advise your child to walk with other friends. Arrange for him or her to go to school and come back from school with another friend who stays close by. If your child takes the bus home, Phoenix security experts suggest advising your child to be with his or her friends at least until their bus picks them up. It is best that wherever your child goes, he or she is accompanied by a friend as much of the time as possible.
If the child is biking or walking alone, tell them to be aware of the surroundings, especially if the neighborhood is new.
If a stranger approaches them, especially an adult, seeking information when other adults are available, for example at a bus stop, then the child should not answer.
If a stranger offers a ride, unless it is an adult with whom it is okay to ride with as per parents instructions, a child should never accept.
If followed by a car, a child should be taught to run in the opposite direction and look for help. If carrying a cellphone, he or she should ask a parent to come pick them up or call 911 for help.
If an adult who they do not know says that he or she knows a friend of theirs and asks for help finding them, they should never follow along and should try to quickly find an adult they know to help them.
In general, a child should develop the habit of always informing their parents or friends where they are going and what they are doing. Whether they are at the park or the mall or at a game parlour, they should not be encouraged to go alone and if they do, their parents or friends should always be aware of their whereabouts. In general, if any stranger makes them feel uncomfortable or scared, they should be taught to seek the assistance of a trusted adult.
