Physical and Mental Abuse in Relationships; Living in Fear

Living a life of abuse tremendously affects a person's soul. In a relationship nothing is perfect, but physical or mental abuse there is just no excuse for it. I'm writing this article based on real facts, not statistics or from a news story. I have not been abused myself, but other's around me close loved one's have and believe me even though it is not easy for them, it is not easy for me because I have to either witness it or hear it.

Mental abuse

I have been around a family member and her boyfriend and from a distance you would think, they are a nice couple. But close up you can completely see the terror, the anger and the frustration. In this relationship he is the one being mentally abused. The woman takes every advantage in belittling him, insulting his pride and making him feel like no matter what he does he will never be good enough for her. And seeing this just makes my blood boil because how can someone that is a so called woman of God have such evil inside of her.

My relative admits that she does not like men, but I question why you are with him then. I guess it is because of the thought of being lonely and his money and though he does not make that much, it doesn't stop her from taking it. The name calling it just out of control, she is controlling and obnoxious. He stays because he loves her, but what in the hell does love got to do with it! In a situation like this either someone is going to be dead or seriously hurt. The best thing to do is to get to the root of the problem or break-up.

Everyone should be treated equally, no one whether they have a badge, a college degree, make more money or have more intellect have the right to disrespect their partner or anyone else all because they can. It is not right and should not be tolerated. We all deserve to be happy and if that means walking away then do it; do what makes you at peace with your heart and soul.

Physical Abuse

My spouse's friend is cool when around, but behind close doors he's someone completely different. The one's that seems to be such a gentleman are usually the men to watch out for. Now, I wouldn't be all in their business, but it is kind of hard to ignore when his girl is in your face with a busted lip or black eye. You can only talk to someone so many times about the right thing to do. Physical abuse is so unforgivable and memorable especially when you are in the mirror looking at your beat up face or taking the time to move right because your ribs feel like they are broken.

It is terror, it is hell and though I've never been in an abusive relationship I can feel their pain and anguish. This goes for men and women hitting someone make you look like a coward, it distorts your image on the inside and outside. Think about the kids, how are they going to know how to treat someone if they are being raised in an environment like that. Life shouldn't be about walking on egg shells because you are worried about someone's temper or raising their hand up at you.

Furthermore, I know life is not perfected, but you should be happy and enjoy your days whether you are bored or mad without fighting. Love is gentle and difficult but it should never cause you to get a black eye, bruised body, broken arm or a hand print in your face, it just does not work that way. Love with your heart; fight with your heart and with respect but never with your hands to the one you care for.
