Polytek of Rochester Announces New Service

Polytek of Rochester, a division of Rochester Outdoor Living, announces the launch of a new service providing Rochester floor coatings.

Many people a using their garage as an extension of the homes living space and want it to look and feel as nice as their home said Polytek of Rochester owner Jon Zimmerman. We felt there was a niche for helping homeowners install a durable and beautiful floor covering that helps them enjoy that space.

Although there are kits available at many local home improvement stores for garage floor coating,Polytek's product is different. There are a lot of failing epoxy garage floors in Rochester. This is not epoxy, but rather polyurea which is much more durable and chemical resistant than epoxy. Polytek's coating will resist salt damage, oil and gasoline spills and it's easy to clean. The do-it-yourself kits use an acid wash to prepare the floor but this actually reduces the strength of the bond between the floor and the coating resulting in peeling and flaking. Polytek of Rochester's professional installers use power grinders to prepare the floor which results in a strong bond between the floor and the coating. The results are guaranteed not to flake or peel.

While the Do It Yourself crowd is dealing with a multi-day project with multiple washes and drying time, the Polytek product can be installed in just a singe day. The floor can we walked on after only two hours and driven on in just twelve hours. Another advantage to the polyurea floor is that it can be applied at temperatures above zero degrees Fahrenheit while the home improvement store version must be applied at fifty five degrees or higher. Almost any structurally sound concrete floor, old or new, can be coated. However, newly poured floors should be in place for at least 28 days before our coatings are applied to ensure adequate curing.
