At the postgraduate level we can find two main types of degrees: academic and vocational. There are also honorary degrees which are given in different field like art, music, politics, writing, etc., as an acknowledgement of persons talents.

You will need a Bachelors degree to start your applying for the postgraduate education. Some Educational organizations allow different tests. For example: Dental Admission Test, Law School Admission Test, etc. But in most cases decision about admission is making not by the Institution itself, but by the instances to which this student applies for postgraduate education.

Exams to pass while studying Doctoral program.

If a student is continuing to receive his Doctoral program for the next years he/she will have more exams. They could differ from students orientation and the purpose of making an exam. It could be exams to check a general comprehension the student of the subject or to check his/her own researches in some special field of the studies. For example: Candidacy, Specials, Generals, etc.

The term of studying the Doctoral program can be varied from four to eight years, while some disciplines can last longer. For example Archeology program can occupy ten or even more years of your study.

While studying your degree you can get a funding. Because of the emulation between Universities their funding is growing now. But still it differs from the position you are occupying. Researching positions are more paid than teaching because of the time and efforts deserved to the research.
