I realised this morning that winter was firmly on its way when i hurried to the car (running late, as usual) and found my car covered in a thick layer of frost. And it wasn't the sort of frost that clears if you sit moodily in your car with the air on full blast and the windscreen wipers going at full pelt. Oh no, it was the so-thick-you-need-to-scrape type. The only time we get s respite for this in the winter is when it pours hard. I can't work out which one is the greater evil to be honest.
So driving in the cold is a hazard, and we need to be fully prepared to combat it. After all, a car accident would REALLY ruin the day, wouldn't it?
So you need to make some simple little checks on your vehicle to make sure it's as safe as it can be. Check that your brake lights are working and also check the fog lights. They are especially important when it is snowing or dingy, but be aware it is illegal to use them if the weather conditions aren't bad.
Add anti freeze to the water and windscreen solution in the car, to make it easier to keep the window clear when you are driving, and make sure your screen wash is full as bad weather will have the gritters out which leave a horrible film on the windscreen.
