Products To Help Exercise Dogs
There are different products out there to help your dog get more exercise
. These products include tie-outs, dog backpacks, fetching toys, bike leashes and more.
Tie-outs for dogs are long leads attached to a stake in the ground to keep the lead in place. This allows the dog to run around in an area that is not fenced in. Although this doesn't replace a walk, it allows for a dog to be outside.
Dogs should never be left unsupervised when attached to a tie-out. The dog could get her lead caught on something. This could cause the dog to strangle herself.
Other dogs or animals could approach the dog because there is no fence as a barrier. And people could come by and hurt or steal the dog.
The dog is also more of a danger to others when attached to a tie-out because there is no fence to separate the dog from others. Small children could wonder up to the dog and get bitten, for example. So owners should always supervise their dog when she is tied.
Another product is the backpack. This is a very simple concept. The dog wears the pack and carries more weight, therefore tiring the dog out quicker during walks.
Many sporting goods stores and pet supplies stores carry various backpacks for dogs of all sizes. Some backpacks favor usefulness and durability and others are designed based on style.
Fetching toys like basic Frisbees, tennis balls and other toys are great for retrievers that like to run and fetch things. Certain products are designed to make this game more fun for the dog and the owner such as the tennis ball launcher or dog toys that float.
Some dog toys come in a slingshot style so the dog will hold the round part of the toy and the owner can pick up the slingshot end that will be covered in less drool and dirt. This toy can be launched further and with little effort from the human.
Bike leashes for dogs are great because they allow the owner to have control of the dog while taking the dog out for some intense exercise with a bike. There are many brands of these leashes. There are many WalkyDog reviews out there, which is one of the more popular leashes.
Other bike leashes include the bike jogger and the springer. These leashes are all very similar and all of them work by allowing the dog owner to keep both hands on the handlebars of the bike rather than holding onto the dog's leash. Make sure to check out some reviews on the WalkyDog and other bike leashes before you buy one.
Other products to help dogs get more exercise include dog treadmills. Although there are treadmills specifically designed for dogs, any human treadmill will work just fine as long as the dog is properly introduced to the machine.
Training your dog with any new equipment, toy or tool will take some time and patience. Don't rush the dog or push the dog too far out of her comfort zone.
