Pros Of Going To A Trade School
One of the main reasons why people decide to go to college is
, surprisingly, not just to gain a knowledge of more things. Instead, college is appealing because a degree is supposed to upgrade your pay scale when you do get out into the world and get a full-time job.
Most people want to make a lot of money, and society tells us that our chances of doing so are greatly increased when we have a college degree to our name. For those people with only a high school diploma or G.E.D., their salary could use an extra bump, and going back to school would be the way to make that happen.
Unfortunately, most degrees take four years to obtain, and some can even take up to ten. This is just too long for people who want to get their feet on the ground faster, and way too long for people who have a family to feed.
Trade schools are a great way to obtain a college degree without having to take 4-10 years at a university. Instead you can get a degree in two years, or receive a certificate in a matter of months.
This quickness allows you to get into the work force much faster and start earning more money. This benefit is appealing to people of all ages because they all have the same goal of making more money.
People wonder why trade schools take less time than regular colleges and universities, and the answer is simple: Trade schools are more concentrated. This does not mean that the quality of education is greater than that of a university, but is is just more geared to teaching exactly what you need to
know to be in the work force without any fillers.
At a traditional colleges and universities, you are required to take a minimum of two-years worth of college credits in general education classes. These general education classes include things like math, history, geography, science, humanities, writing, and elective classes. Students are required
to take all of these classes in order to move on to the concentrated classes of your specified major.
At trade schools, however, these general education classes are not required because not all of them are useful in the work-force. Trade schools cut out these filler classes and allow students to dive straight into the concentrated classes that teach specifically on the profession of their choice.
The removal of these general education classes not only makes saves students time, but it also saves them money. Most colleges charge by credit hour, meaning that the more classes you take there, the more money you pay. Without general education classes, you cut out half of the classes and therefore,
half of the money it costs to get a college degree.
Not only does that cut out the cost of school, but the campus saves you money as well. Traditional colleges and universities have to provide students with dorm room housing, dining halls, commons areas, and other areas that are necessary for students who live on campus.
Trade schools, however, do not have to provide all of these amenities to students. This makes the cost of maintaining the campus significantly less, which ultimately benefits students since they don't have to pay for those extras either.
Another benefit of trade schools is that most of them are smaller. This allows the student-teacher ratio to be much smaller, which fosters a more personalized learning environment for students.
This is helpful to students who benefit from getting help from their teachers, and makes it easier for them to socialize and form study groups. Large universities have class sizes that exceed 150 students, making it harder to ask questions and get clarification on the course material.
Overall, attending a trade school is a good investment for your future. It saves you time and money, and allows you to get a degree or accreditation which will ultimately help you get a job with a higher paying salary.
