Unruly guests-your co-worker may be the most conservative person you know, but after a few drinks may change faster than a werewolf during a full moon. In a public place people tend to be on better behavior and if not, it is someone elses responsibility to control them.

Liability-in the event there is alcohol at the party, you may not be able to monitor everyones drinking. A guest may drink more than you noticed and drive when leaving your home. You can be held liable as host or hostess of the party (just like with a lounge or nightclub) if that guest leaves and gets into an accident.
