Reasons Why Ceramic Tiles Are Often Chosen For House Flooring
When constructing or renovating a house, the homeowner needs to give meticulous assessment on the type of flooring
. This part of the house is in itself an accent or decoration. You have to blend the flooring with the color of the walls, ceilings or furniture.
Ceramic tiles are one of the most commonly used today as flooring, especially in kitchens, bathrooms and countertops. However, there are also houses that use these ceramic tiles for their living room and kitchen.
Most types of ceramics are either glazed or unglazed. This feature of the ceramic tiles is caused by the heating of the tile - to have it glazed. For houses with elderly as well as children dwellers the recommended type is the unglazed. These are less slippery and has muted look. The glazed are shinny and when properly polished could be very brilliant and tidy looking.
The main reasons for the choice of ceramic tiles are two-fold. Tiles of this kind are cost-effective and versatile. The ceramic tiles are among the cheapest types of flooring yet with proper choice of colors and designs, the flooring can look expensive and luxurious. They can already match the qualities of the stones and marbles which are far more expensive. The versatility of the ceramic tiles enables the home dweller make unique designs for his or her house. This can be construed as customizing your flooring. Tiles can be mixed and coordinated for a different finish. Or, you can just make the lay-out and color as simple as possible.
Aside from the two major reasons, there are still other secondary considerations for choosing the ceramic tiles. Maintenance of this type is easy - usually water can suffice to clean them. They are durable and can withstand frequent stepping over. In cases of damages and chipping, the tiles are easy to replace.
Although the ceramic flooring is easy to maintain, there are some "don'ts to follow to preserve them. Never use any harsh cleaner or chemical on the flooring. Wet sponge or mop will do. Although water will do in cleaning the floor, you can still use other cleaners but this should be non-acidic or non-alkaline in order not to cause any damage on the tiles. Neither should you use soaps or detergents which had been proven to contain ingredients contra to the ceramics. Ammonia and vinegar are also harmful, aside from its susceptibility to molds and mildews which are health hazards. Water is still the best cleaner but this will lack the gloss. If you want it shinny, use products that are meant for this type of tiles.
There are many choices for the flooring of a house. Each one has its own attribute; the preference lies on the homeowner. However, ceramic tiles had been preferred by many who want less expensive but versatile flooring.
