Renovating Cabinets: What Does It Entail?

Also, cabinetry has the often overlooked quality of adding flair and character to the room. However, after some time passes, your cabinets begin to show the signs of old age, becoming more fragile, dull, and boring. Every once in a while, every self-respecting homeowner renovates his cabinetry" however, even though most people believe renovating cabinetry entails buying an entirely new set at 20,000$, it isn"t necessarily the case. There are many tricks and techniques you can use to renovate your old cabinets into newer, brighter ones.

The first step is to remove your cabinet doors, which can be easily achieved seeing as how they"re usually held in place by nothing but a couple of hinges. Once off, you should proceed to thoroughly clean not only the doors, but also the cabinets, inside and out. Once everything is perfectly dry, proceed to the third step and add some prime sealer to your cabinetry and make sure to place it over the whole surface. When painting your cabinets or their doors, I recommend that you use either waterproof, gloss, or semi-gloss paint, so as to give your cabinets a cleaner and more polished appearance.

The fourth to renovating your cabinets involves painting the doors. Pick whichever color you feel sits well with how your place is set up. When you"ve selected your paint of choice, proceed to painting the middle part of the cabinet, and then spill over to the others, applying about 2-3 paint coats. Once done, make sure to let everything dry at least 4-5 hours per paint coat.

Once the doors have been painted, proceed to do the same for the rest of your cabinet, and once everything has dried up, re-assemble your cabinets, and stand amazed as to how you"ve transformed old, outdated cabinets into stylistic dynamos.
