Saving Hot Water With The Right Water Pressure

After we moved from our one-bedroom apartment to our two-bedroom apartment we were ecstatic

. We had more rooms, we didn't have to share rooms with our kids, and we had more room to stretch out. Life was looking great.

Our shower was awful. First, the pressure on the showerhead was so powerful that it actually hurt our skin. Secondly, we soon found out that with in minutes our water turned from hot, to luke-warm, to freezing cold.

While there obviously was a problem with our water heater, we also realized that because the pressure in our shower was so high that our hot water ran out at a much higher pace. We needed to do something about the amount of pressure coming out of our showerhead if we wanted to actually enjoy our showers. My husband was starting to get tired of taking cold showers, since I insisted I had to be the first one after my own freezing shower.

Luckily for us our manager could care of the situation for us. I'm sure if we made a big enough stink about it we might have gotten our water heater replaced or the pressure worked on. Since my husband does not like bothering management, we solved the problem by not pulling our shower knob out all the way so the pressure was not as strong as it normally was.

The reason that water pressure effects the heat of water is because the higher the water pressure, the more water is being pushed through the pipes. That means that there is more hot water being forced out. So that hot water is being drained from your Utah heating water tank, and the stored up water is depleting.

Older homes and apartments usually have more water pressure in the plumbing. Why? Because current homes have to be build with a lower pressure rate in order to conserve water.
