SchoolScout – finding the right school for you
SchoolScout finding the right school for you
League tables have always been controversial. Teacher's unions oppose them, arguing that they do not provide meaningful information about school quality. Parents love them, as they are an objective method to compare schools and they provide more useful information than mere word-of-mouth or an orchestrated open day. League tables have been in used in England since 1993, when the UK Government enacted policy to collect performance data from schools. Currently, primary and secondary school data is collected for both state and independent schools. We believe that school performance tables can be a very useful information source for parents, as long as parents take into consideration other important characteristics about the schools they are selecting from, like extra-curricular opportunities and career advice.
SchoolScout combines government school performance tables with data direct from schools to create a valuable resource for parents making school choices. We focus on secondary school league tables with the aim of helping parents find information on the top schools in their area. We have information on all the secondary state schools in England, and we allow parents to rank schools based on distance from home. We have made it easy to find independent or boarding schools and we have compiled fee information so parents can select schools that meet their budgets. Our customisable school league table facility allows parents to form league tables featuring the schools that they are most interested in.
Choosing the right school can make a huge difference to your child's welfare and happiness. We all want our children to attend a school that matches their temperaments and where their talents are nurtured. We believe that information can be used to help you make better decisions about which schools to send your children to. By marshalling the appropriate data and making it accessible and easy to use, we hope to demystify the process of school choice.
