Scientific Research May Also Be Risky And Fascinating
According to the stereotypes, the scientific work is recognized to be routine and not very creative
. Many young people are not attracted by the prospect of spending the huge part of their lives in various laboratories. Well, if you are one of them, you would be surprised with the fact that there is enough room for adventures and risk in science. Lets have a look at the scientific careers which are known to be risky and even dangerous.
The hurricane hunter
Try to combine the images of a scientist and a superhero, and youll have the approximate idea of what a hurricane hunter is all about. This job means flying into the wild storms of no less than Category 5 and gathering the necessary data. In the conditions of the bad visibility and the extreme turbulence, the scientists have to conduct their research either in the eye of a hurricane or outside of it. While the humanity is following the news, with the breath bated, these people are just doing their daily job.
The ice core scientist
Far away from the civilization, with the enormously low temperature and the wind reaching them to the bones, - these are the typical working conditions for the ice core scientists. They extract the pieces of ice to study the bubbles inside and define the climate change on our planet. Apparently, if the hell exists, it is in the Antarctic. Or, as a variant, the hell is the working conditions of the following job.
The volcanologist
The scientists have to work either in a volcano crater while it sleeps or within easy reach of it erupting. Its striking how the scientists manage to do their measurements in such inhospitable place. Though the volcanologists have many gadgets to protect themselves, this job is still recognized to be one of the most risky ones.
As you see, science has its breakneck fields for the madcap researchers.
