Scope For Careers In Kpos Is Expanding
KPO stands for Knowledge Process Outsourcing, a sector based on knowledge related work
. In last few years, it has emerged as one of the high paying as well as rewarding careers. KPO jobs present excellent earning potential especially for those with technical and analytical skills in different areas like engineering, medicine, pharmacy, finance, economics, legal, architecture and journalism.
The concept of KPOs refers outsourcing of knowledge related work to save the cost just like BPOs, Business Process Outsourcing. KPO has specific focus on knowledge expertise and all the work is based on high-value knowledge. KPOs are very close to BPOs as both handle problems in a pre-defined and pre-processed way. But, Business process outsourcing i.e. BPO is a broad term which implies outsourcing in all fields while KPO is restricted to fields of knowledge. Also, it is one of the fastest growing segments of the ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) industry.
The services provided by KPOs include the following:
1.) Intellectual property investigation,
2.) Legal research services,
3.) Data research & data analysis services,
4.) Market research,
5.) Database development services,
6.) Financial market research,
7.) Content development services,
8.) Medical writing services and
9.) Animation & simulation technology.
Jobs in KPOs are more preferred than jobs in BPOs because they promise long term growth in careers and the nature of job is also not so monotonous. They relate to knowledge and learning jobs rather than regular copy paste or calling jobs like in BPOs. To work in this industry, one needs various skills and abilities like advanced information search; analytical, interpretation and technical skills along with professional and decision-making aptitude. In-depth domain knowledge with conceptual understanding is the key to success and steady growth in KPOs.
KPOs are one of the fast progressing fields that have been generating immense job opportunities. It is always in need of proficient candidates from diverse academic backgrounds so as to get different perspectives for delivering quality work to the global clients. India is the most preferred destination for outsourcing of knowledge related works as it has a huge talent pool, well trained for such activities. The tremendous potential and the vast number of jobs for engineers, MBAs, lawyers, CAs, doctors, research analysts, scientific researchers and Ph.Ds. makes KPOs a hub of experts. Undoubtedly, India has lot of intellectual manpower to fulfill the growing need of KPO industry across all fields.
Consistent and intelligent performers have endless opportunities in a KPO organization in terms of growth, salary/ remuneration, managerial responsibilities, position and designation. KPO is a quick-money sector where well educated, knowledgeable, analytical and deserving candidates can make good money, more than the BPO sector.
The talented generation of India has been attracting attention from leading business giants across the globe leading to extensive outsourcing, from high-end processes to low-wage ones. KPO industry is more focused on value chain rather than providing mere backend or customer care support. It is concerned with highly skilled services of document writing, global filing, prior art searches, invalidation search, execution of standardized processes, etc.
The BPO culture prevalent in India was welcomed with open arms by one and all as it promised flourishing careers and huge money. Few years ago, many industry experts had predicted that BPO boom will make a sudden exit from the Indian market leaving many unemployed but that doesnt seem to be happening in coming years. Though Obamas policy of eliminating incentives for companies shipping jobs overseas has become a cause of worry for many, the issue is being addressed seriously.
Jobs in KPOs have grown in last 5 years and have further scope for expansion in future. All kinds of experts are required in the industry and are paid off well.
So, go try your luck too!
