List of foreclosure houses are everywhere. With the continued rise in the number of foreclosures, more sources of these lists have emerged. Some lists only have a brief description of the property plus the contact information on the sellers while other lists come with pictures, a more comprehensive background on the property and some information on the neighborhood, city and state where it is located.
Foreclosure Web Sites
If you want a comprehensive list of foreclosure houses you can simply go online and search for one. Some lists are free and some require a subscription. Free listings do not yield as much information as would a pay site so it is much better to go for the latter. There are sites that offer a trial period of about a week. For a small fee, you can navigate through the site and determine if indeed you need a longer subscription. There are highly specialized sites that comes with a powerful search engine to enable users to narrow down their search according to price, location and home type. They also provide a mortgage calculator, several reports and studies on the foreclosures market and an email customer support.
County Courthouse Foreclosures Filings
If you are interested in foreclosures located at a certain area you can obtain them through the county courthouse. All notices of foreclosures and auctions are listed here. All judicial foreclosures are initially offered to the public through a sheriff's sale held at the steps of the courthouse. When the properties fail to sell at auctions they go back to the mortgage lender who initiated the foreclosure and become real estate owned properties.
Bank Foreclosures
Also known as real estate owned homes, these properties are also compiled in a list of foreclosure houses held by banks or other lending companies. The list is usually managed by a licensed real estate agent appointed by the bank to sell their properties to the market. Banks sometimes have entire departments that handle their foreclosed homes inventory and individuals can approach a bank officer to ask about these homes.
