The key to Self Awareness is to be aware of how aware you are. Sometimes you are more conscious than others, we go in and out of states all day long but are rarely conscious of what state we are in. The more aware you are of how aware you are the more aware you are going to be. The more conscious you are, the more clarity, happiness and peace of mind; the more unconscious you are the more confusion, suffering and pain. Ask yourself right now: How conscious am I?
Simply asking yourself how conscious you are enables you to step back from the machinations of your mind, and gain perspective. In these moments when you disengage from your mind you can clarity of mind and peace. From this place of peace you gain insight and inner direction so you can better deal with the situation at hand.
Take an accounting at the end of the day. You could check in maybe in the morning and the afternoon. You can check in every hour. Whatever works for you. And it just begins by looking and saying, "How conscious am I anyway? What level of consciousness am I living at?" Ask yourself that question now. And then just keep asking yourself that question and watch would happens.
