Self Defense Products Every Woman Should Have

It's a crazy world out there. Every time you turn around the news is reporting on some heinous crime or another. If you don't want to be a victim of somebody else's bad judgment then you must arm yourself with self defense products. Now, your mind may have instantly jumped to thinking about guns and knives, however, you really don't need anything that deadly. There are several seemingly innocuous products you can buy that pack a big enough punch to knock a would-be assailant off their feet without causing fatal damage. Here are a few products that every woman should carry around with them.

Personal Alarms - These are small electronic devices that produce a very loud sound designed to get attention. When perpetrators attack, the last thing they want is for other people to find out what they are doing and try to stop them. Therefore, being able to draw attention to yourself can literally be a lifesaver. These self defense products are small enough to be looped onto a keychain for easy access. Some offer expanded capabilities, such as also functioning as a portable motion detector. This is great for when you are traveling and want an extra layer of protection in hotel rooms.

Pepper Sprays - These self defense products are meant to disable an attacker. Made from very hot peppers, pepper spray causes inflammation in the eyes and lungs. Your attacker will be left temporarily blind and coughing uncontrollably while you get away to a safe place. The spray can be shot at an attacker 8-10 feet away which means you don't have to be close to use it. Additionally, some pepper sprays contain a dye agent that will stain the perpetrator making it easy for police to spot them. Pepper spray can also be used against dangerous and nuisance animals to deter them from attacking.

Stun Guns - As self defense products go, stun guns are probably the most aggressive form of non-fatal defense. They use a high electrical charge to temporarily stun an attacker, allowing you to get away. Stun guns work by disrupting the flow of electricity in the body, so the perpetrator experiences sudden muscle weakness and is left lying on the ground, helpless while you run for help. This effective weapon comes in a variety of disguises, such as a cell phone, and some come with a safety feature that prevents the attacker from using the stun gun on you. Your safety is important. Use the right product to help you avoid becoming a victim.
