Self Storage Rate Options

If you are looking for self storage space, then you probably have a good reason -

maybe you have run out of room in your home or perhaps you have a few things that you just think would be better in storage. Whatever the reason happens to be you will need to take a look at the different storage rates if you plan to successfully procure an adequate self storage unit. The reason for this is that the rates can change drastically depending on which features you decide to rent.

The first thing you need to know is that you can negotiate self storage rates. The price is not always set, especially if you are dealing with a private owner and not a corporate storage chain. Naturally you won't be able to go incredibly low, but if you do it right you might just shave a few dollars off of the initial price.

If you don't like the rates at one facility then you can always go to the next. There are many different storage facilities in most major cities, some more popular than others. A good example of a popular one would be a storage facility located in the middle of town or next to a major freeway. These places can charge significantly more simply because they are so close to urban areas.

Another item to keep in mind is that smaller units will have lower pricing. If you don't need a huge space, then don't rent a huge space. If you need a huge space and don't have the money, then you will need to make the most of the space that you can afford to rent. For instance you can try to fit everything in a certain way so that the packing interlocks and allows for even more items to be placed on top of it. This isn't easy, but with self storage rates on the rise, it is important to know how to make the most of that space!

The rates are not permanent. They can always be changed, and they can always be discounted based on specials or early payment. What you need to do is make sure you are getting a good deal, especially if the rate is high. To do this you will need to take a look at the facilities and see exactly what they are offering. Check to see what condition their buildings are in, and most of all, make sure those buildings are capable of defending your items.

A good storage facility should have multiple security cameras set up, and those cameras should of course be able to monitor the entire complex. There should also be security guards on patrol making sure there are no unwanted visitors messing with the storage units. In other words, you want a company that truly cares about security and is dedicated to making sure your items remain safe.

In addition to that, it would be a good idea to make sure the facility is located on a main road. This will ensure that you can pull out and get to your destination easily, no matter where it happens to be. It will cost more to have a storage unit on a main road, but such is life. That being said, get out there and start looking at storage rates today.
