Six Pack Exercises - The Real Truth Behind A Lean Six Pack

It is a common misconception in the search for six pack abs that you require some crazy abdominal workout to get them

. Six pack exercises, if you do them at the right intensity and in the right rep range, will help create the muscle, but will not give you a six pack alone. It is possible for the world's strongest abs to look like a beer belly to the outside observer if you don't pay attention to fat loss.

The best exercises to get a six pack have nothing to do with the abdominal muscles themselves, but the stripping away of body fat. This can be done in the kitchen or on a treadmill. The results will be faster and more pronounced if you attack on both fronts. Obviously you have other choices besides a treadmill, but I'm just using it because it is a common representative example of cardiovascular activity.

If you're tired of hearing people tell you to eat less and exercise more, then prepare for good news. That statement is extremely misleading, and probably one of the key reasons fat loss is so misunderstood. You could eat two pounds of vegetables and be better off than if you ate two pieces of cake. The cake is "less" but the saying ignores the quality of your actions, such as the calorie density of the food, or the intensity of your workouts.

The vegetables may have even more calories, but you'd still be better off as they are "negative calorie foods." The mentality of the "eat less..." saying also leads people to eat less frequently and often less than they should. Taking these actions can give a detrimental blow to your metabolism.

The argument against simply exercising more sounds roughly the same. Overall, losing unwanted fat is more about the quality of your actions instead of sheer quantity. Of course there is a balance, the law of conservation of energy still applies, but if you are taking the smart approach you are setting yourself up to win. Making your actions count for more also helps prevent motivational burn out.

Your nutritional "six pack exercises" should consist primarily of natural foods. Eat five or six meals each day and get a balance of macronutrients in each one. If you intend to skip or cut back on any of these macronutrients, make it carbohydrates.

For physical exertion, focus more on high-intensity activity. Sprint sets, burst swimming, and circuit training will all consume huge quantities of calories and increase your metabolism for the next two days.
