It is especially easy to misplace those smaller tools, but utilizing a small tool organizer can make all the difference when trying to locate them for your project. With so many options, it may seem difficult to choose the best tool boxes for your needs, but a wooden organizer just may provide the option you have been looking for. A wooden organizer has many similar traits to that of a classic toolbox, but the wood finishes and materials offer unique and strong alternative to those made of metal or plastic.

To begin organizing your tools to place in your wooden organizer, you will want to remove them from their containers and begin sorting them by type and size. As you are sorting the items, begin grouping them into categories that will help you keep them organized in the end. For example, place all of the screwdrivers in one section, all nails in another followed by wrenches in a third section. This allows you to see exactly what you have, what you may be able to condense, and how you will need to put it into the small tool organizer when you are ready.

If you have several of the same items, you may want to only keep one or two in the wooden organizer you are using. The multiples can be stored in a larger tool box or somewhere else in the garage. Something that makes organization difficult is having too many of the same items. This can make it difficult to properly store everything that you need to have with you when fixing something. By organizing your tools, you may find that you can give some multiple tools to charity or to a neighbor in need, saving space and helping others at the same time.

Consider the dividers and sections within the small tool organizer and take a look at the tools that you plan to store in the box. Then, decide which items will take up the larger sections of the organizer and which you can place in the smaller areas. Avoid putting more than one or two items in each section; this can make it difficult to find what you need quickly. You may consider using rubber foam to make cutouts of the larger tools ensuring that they always have a particular place in your tool organizer. This also allows them to sit in the tool box without moving around and mixing with the other items.

When you have sufficiently sorted, place all of the necessary tools into the wooden organizer. Once every two weeks to a month, go through the tool box and make sure everything is still organized in an orderly fashion in the box. Checking the organization periodically will make it easier to keep things nice and neat.

As you can see, having a small tool organizer is very beneficial if you have a number of tools. Wood is a great material to have for a tool box, because the materials chosen for these devices are strong and long lasting. Be sure to keep your tools sorted and well organized to avoid the headache of searching for your tools each time you need to use them.
