Stansted Airport and Come Fly With Me | New BBC Comedy
This long awaited David Williams and Matt Lucas comedy about the operational life behind fictional low cost carrier Fly Low and others aired last night on BBC to much acclaim. The new series depicts a range of fictional charactersbased upon Williams' and Lucas' unique ability to completely imerse themselves into a mutlitude of roles.
Fly Low is obviouslymeant to be one of the more established real life carriers based at Stansted, with a flambouyant owner seeking to charge for every aspect of the travelling experience, cabin crew who appear to sell you extras which really aren't and with a number of key airport personnel who spend their days trying to help or hinder passengers on their travels through Stansted Airport.
The series was actually filmed in the quieter UK arrivals area of Stansted Airport. The ironic comedy used throughout is very much centred on passengers interaction, positive or negative, with airport and airline staff. Readers might remember the ITV show of 10 years ago whichenabled EasyJet to obtain extensive exposure with the the show "Airline". In this show the producers used real footage of passengers problems and how they would take their frustrations out on airline desk personnel. This new spook show is no different with a David Williams inspired character shouting the odds to staff over the fact that he did not have his passport with him. The sketch showed him walking around the airport snarling atthe wayhe felt he had been treated was unreasonable after which the character realised that he did in fact have his passport in his pocket after all! Hilarious.
The inhouse airportphotographers are a hilarious spoof from the two characters from a previous show of "Airport" which was based at Heathrow over 10 years ago. Again, the spoof in this instance being the way in which both characters can talk extensively about their favourite celebrity stars only to miss them each time they walk through airport arrival areas!
The husband and wife team who are pilots in tandem because of the husbands previously cheating ways in another hilarious sketch on how a married couple might indeed scare us all senseless whilst travelling!
