Being a new player in Starcraft 2 can be very frustrating
. You always end up losing a bunch of ladder games because you don't understand a lot of mechanics and basic strategies in the game. This Starcraft 2 newbie guide will teach you essential tips and mistakes to avoid when playing the Starcraft 2.
1. Avoid being a "mouse clicker". You want to avoid using a mouse when playing as much as possible. Try and learn EVERY hotkey for your race and make sure you are using control groups. This will increase your actions per minute(APM).
2. Don't stare at fights. This is especially problematic in 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4. New players tend to watch players that they are not directly involved in. Mind your business and focus on your units, not a fight you aren't involved in.
3. You don't need to get every unit. This is one of the most important ideas in this newbie guide. You don't need to get every single unit for a fight. You only need to have a early game plan, and a simple transition strategy.
3. Spend your resources. A big mistake a lot of newbies make is they don't spend enough resources and end up having a bunch of extra minerals and gas. Keep spending your resources on something.
4. Don't freak out from a small attack or harassment. Keep your cool and stay in control. A lot of newbies lose control, stop building units, and watch a Reaper / Zerglings run around their base.
5. When learning, you should make your self a mental check list. Look at it whenever you have a moment. It should have basic questions to ask yourself such as:
Am I building workers right now?
What's my supply at?
Am I spending my minerals?
Can I scout my opponent quick?
These are some simple strategies newbies can take advantage of to start quickly increasing their skill level.
