1) Relaxation Exercises: Relaxation is letting go of physical and emotional stress leading to a feeling of peacefulness. There are different ways to relax yourself; you will need to find the best ways that work for you.

Here are some ideas for you to get started for all Types of MS:

a) Music: Music helps many people to relax. Choose the one which is soothing to you. Listening to music can distract you from thinking about any situation or pain. It also helps to relieve tense muscles contributing to the pain.

b) Physical Exercise:

Exercise is a good way to lower stress. Exercise releases natural body substances called endorphins, which are associated with a feeling of well-being.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation: Some people cannot relax due to muscle tension. Progressive muscle relaxation is a way to decrease tension in your muscles. This is done by alternating the contracting and relaxing of different muscles groups through the body.

Imagery Exercises:

An imagery exercise is when you use your imagination to create a thought or image that will distract you from your stress. For example, think of a time, place or a situation when you felt lively, secure, happy and comfortable. Imagine those surroundings, the sights, the smells and the sounds which give you pleasant thoughts.

2) Looking after yourself:

Having a consistent routine can give structure to your life. Body can begin to accept and follow certain routines. For example, taking time to relax and unwind before bed, and getting up at the same time.

Surroundings:

Your comfort and the tidiness of your surroundings can all have an impact on your mood. It can also affect your sleep and your overall ability to cope with problems. Try to take practical steps to resolve any particular issues.
