Vellore is one of the oldest cities of the Southern India

. The city is located on the Palar River and on the site of Vellore fort. This beautiful age old city is the headquarter of the Vellore district and is one of the cities of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.Vellore city is located between different other significant cities namely, Chennai, Bangalore and between the temple towns of Thiruvannamalai and Tirupati.

This ancient and significant city has been home to many historical rulers and their dynasties like, Pallavas, Cholas, Nayak, Marathas, Arcot Nawabs and Bijapur Sultan Kingdoms. Vellore has been one of the centers of the Dravidian civilization and is also the melting pot of age old city traditions, different heritage and the modernizing society and the inception of the modern age. With the changing time this city has converted into a well developed cosmopolitan city of the country and has become a major center for medical, tourism and education sector.

As Vellore lies between the two most developed IT cities of the county namely, Chennai and Bangalore, so it gives a direct benefit to the IT industry of the city and also increases other chances of growth in other industries. And that is the reason that in the past few decades the city has shown tremendous growth in every field of work and is also emerging as one of the industrial cities of India. Vellore has well developed leather and tanning industry and is one of the top exporters of the finished leather goods in the country.
