If you want to lose weight, you definitely need to exercise

, but the one thing that you do not want to happen to you is an injury. This is something that will ruin your routine, cause pain, and add to your medical bills especially if it's a somewhat serious injury. When you do exercise, you need to do your best to prevent all these injuries.

In order to do this, you need to start off with having proper form. There are thousands of different types of exercises. Each one of them has a proper form that you should be following in order to do the motion in a safe way. Use a mirror and look at your motion or have someone critique you so that you can perfect your form and stay safe.

Stop an exercise if it becomes too painful especially if it's joint pain. You will feel some of your muscles be challenged, but pain is much different. If you aren't sure stop so you don't hurt yourself.

Be sure that at some point during your routine that you stretch. Some argue that stretching before is best while others argue that it's best to stretch afterwards. Regardless what you believe, stretching is needed to prevent injury.

Drink plenty of water. Many injuries can be cause from being too dehydrated. You don't want to have heat related illnesses and lack of water especially on the hot summer days.

You need to have a warm up and a cool down with each workout. This will give your body time to be challenged and a point where you can relax a bit before stopping.

Listen to your body. If you are too sore or in too much pain to work out that day, don't do it. This isn't to be used as an excuse. Only do this when it's real pain.

Padding in your shoes is important to reduce impact. Protect all your joints as best as you can.
