The experts are saying that anywhere between 50-80 percent of all disease is stress related

. That does make sense as when people get busy they do tend to cut corners in regards to their health. The biggest three factors, exercise, healthy eating and sleep tend to get pushed down the totem pole of priorities and take a back seat.

But if this goes on for too long you can find yourself with lost strength, poor fitness and weight gain which all contribute to serious health issues somewhere down the track.

Busyness is a desirable quality to have in our culture. We admire people who get more done in less time and the ability to handle a heavy workload is an esteemed value to have. Yet when we are in continuous motion and getting pulled in multiple directions at once it can take its toll on us.

Rushing around, eating on the run, doing, going, working and giving to others can drain us physically, mentally and emotionally. When we are so busy we neglect our own needs as we barely have time to stop and connect with anyone least of all ourselves. Not only do we suffer but our families suffer even right down to our pets.


Yet many of the things we are so busy doing are not the most important things or the things we should be focusing on. The more overworked and under-rested we become the more we actually need to be able to tap into nurturing self health care so we can remain healthy and better juggle our responsibilities without the risk of succumbing to stress related illness

To be effective at managing stress and anxiety you need to become your own best caregiver. This will give you plenty of inner resources you can tap into and draw strength and energy from when the going gets tough and extra loads are placed on you.

Everybody knows the importance of exercise for physical strength and fitness but it can also play a major role for reducing and controlling stress. When your muscular system gets a workout 'feel good' hormones are released that calm and sooth the human body. Harmful stress hormones are reduced and dissipated so they can lie around doing damage to organs, tissues and cells.


A proper exercise program that contains mostly strength training exercise done properly with some effort put into it is very effective and you will only 2-3 sessions each week. Just devoting this small amount of time and some physical effort will provide you with multiple health benefits both short term and long term.

You will find your anxiety/panic button is reset so it takes more to trigger it and less effort to bring it under control. It makes good sense to schedule a couple of exercise sessions into your busy week no matter how difficult that is. If you don't you will be risking having to take days, weeks or even forever off work due to stress related illness.

You will get a double whammy with your exercise program as it will not only chase away stress it will get you strong and fit so not only will you look good you will feel good too.
