Each teaching job comes with its sets of objectives and challenges. Despite the written set of do's and don'ts, there is always the occasional curve ball which knocks the best of educators off their perch. Although the situation does not intend to cause imbalance to the perfect picture of education, life itself is often imperfect. Hence, it is an understandable fact that teachers need to engage their students' families as well as society on the journey towards educating minds, young and old.

Children are constantly overwhelmed by the pressures of life. Throughout the annals of history, the notion of studying hard and doing well in school is drummed into the mind of man. Barring those who have limited exposure to education, everyone thus rolls up his or her sleeves to hit the books. Driven by overambitious or overbearing parents, toddlers at a young and tender age are sent to classes to get a head start. When they enter their formal schooling years, some develop a blas attitude as they are already acquainted with the material. As such, education takes a back seat as they wile their time away with less favorable pastimes. The teaching job becomes a more difficult task as the educator juggles between willing and willful students. As a bad apple tends to spread rot quite easily, other children may opt to cross to the dark side thus adding to the bane.

The teacher is thus encouraged to get the parents' participation in the exposure of education to their young. A healthy environment must be evident in the home as well as the school and its surrounding vicinity. As parents get together with teachers to discuss and derive plans to instill this environment, guidance counselors as well as representatives of the community such as residents and tradesmen can be included to provide further input to promote the good cause. When the students are groomed as ambassadors of goodwill, encouraging results should be evident in the decrease of gang-related activities and violence in schools.
