Teaching our kids the importance of protecting the environment is vital for the future of our planet

. There are so many ways that we as parents can help our kids become aware of environmental protection.

Here are three things that you can do at home with your kids to help them understand their role in planet conservation.

1) First of all, you can recycle. Recycling can be fun project that kids can do. Recycling keeps unnecessary extra garbage that takes hundreds and even thousands of years to decompose out of the landfills.

Recycling is a great way to teach your kids how to be responsible as well as make them aware of the dangers and threats that many types of garbage such as plastics, aluminum, metals and glass can pose to our environment. But, when these items are recycled, they can be used over and over again and save our environment from harm.

2) Teaching your child to conserve water is another way to help them appreciate and take care of our environment by helping them not to take for granted its natural resources. There are many simple to teach your child how to conserve water. First of all, teach them to turn the water off while brushing their teeth, then back on to rinse. You'd be surprised at how many gallons of water can be saved by doing that.

Next, use less water in the bathtub or shorten the length of a shower. This conserves water too. Helping your kid understand about the conservation of our planet's natural resources will give them a greater appreciation and respect for the environment they live in.

3) Another way that you and your child can work together and be eco friendly at the same time is when you are packing lunch for school.
