amount of courses must get in at least 15 hours of MCLE each year in order to remain in good standing with the state bar. For example, New York requires 24 credits, but they only require those to be taken every two years. Texas only requires 15 credits, but those have to be repeated every single year. So, in reality while New York attorneys complete 24 credits in two years time, Texas attorneys actually have to complete 30. Texas Continuing Legal Education requires a specialty certification in either Professionalism or Legal Ethics, and the minimum credit hours that are needed per cycle is three.

There are a few different requirements that states have set in place for their legal professionals. One of these is the compliance deadline. This date varies according to states, and is the date that professionals have to finish all of the credits by. There is another deadline called a compliance deadline in the state. For TX, this deadline is the last day of the month that the person was born in. Another deadline that professionals have to watch for is the reporting deadline. Professionals need to report their accomplishments appropriately by this date each year, and it is the first day of the month that they were born in. Texas Continuing Legal Education has other rules and stipulations too, so make sure that you are familiar with all of them.
