Texas Hold Em Trick #1 - Play Solid

You will exponentially increase your success against beginners players just by picking to play better cards. I'm not talking about being so tight you won't shell out a dollar to pay for your grandpa's bus ticket. I'm talking about just being a more solid poker player all round.

Beginner poker players can sometimes be a tad unpredictable. Like any player, they will have the spontaneous massive hand (just from pure luck). Of course you should be putting them on a style but I've found that sometimes the newer players just kinda play any ol' hand they get (except for really bad ones).

This is kind of a double edge sword - they might go to the showdown with nothing more than a pair or they might have accidently hit four of a kind with pocket deuces, for example. Solid poker is your answer here.

Texas Hold Em Trick #2 - Bet Aggressively

It's the time worn, age old strategy that seems to be the answer for every single one of your poker problems. Aggressive play is the absolute saviour in almost any event. I find there is a sliding scale of its efficacy compared to how well experienced you opponent is.

For example, it works much better against newer, pretty good against beginner, solid against normal people, but then worse and worse the better the person gets (use tight play against extremely good players).

It works a treat against beginners because they often think that you have very very good cards because you are betting so much. Also, they are sometimes not very comfortable with putting so much on the line on a single hand they are uncertain about, so will often fold out.
