Which Types Of Kitchen Cabinet Should You Buy For Your New Kitchen?

A major part of any kitchen remodeling or redesigning is acquiring new kitchen cabinets

or upgrading your existing ones to become more modern and contemporary. If you buy a new one, however, how do you know what to buy, which is the best for your own kitchen?

There are two main cabinet styles that you need to be aware of: the traditional style and the European style. Of course there are also other types, such as the custom type, the stock and the custom modular one. If you want to know more details about each particular type, you can easily ask the sales person in the kitchen furniture store. But of course, you can also browse through the catalogs of manufacturers that have an online presence.

So how do you decide whether you want a traditional or a European style kitchen cabinet? The tradition style is very common in the US for many years now, while the European version has started to enter the continent after WWII. This was a way to provide people with a cheaper and more economical ones that are also more standard. The traditional ones are also called frameface cabinets, while the European ones are called frameless.

With the frameface cabinet style, you can use lower quality materials for the sides since the frame can easily hide that cheap material from view. The problem is, however, that the frame is using additional space that you could use otherwise. Also you have here a smaller front opening so when designing this cabinet, the shelves and drawers have to be made smaller in order to properly fit.

The frameless cabinets are smaller than the traditional ones and they can be placed anywhere in the kitchen. They have a rather narrow strip that effectively covers the panel edge. When you close the door, you don't really see the hinges, as they are hidden from view. Due to the standard sizes of these cabinets, you can easily fit any types of kitchen cabinet organizers in them. This is actually one of the major benefits of having European cabinets instead of the traditional ones in your kitchen.
