A different side to the Algarve's more modern attractions is one that is steeped in history and culture of the region, the spa town of Caldas de Monchique, which dates back to roman times because of its waters which are rumoured to have healing powers.
Activities that anyone can get involved in are scattered around the region and its resorts, and they range from surfing, crazy golf, horse riding, kayaking to more extreme things such as rock climbing sky diving and wakeboarding.

If you don't want to spend your time on the golf course or visiting the many other attractions available throughout the region then just pull out a sun lounger and relax. The Algarve is probably better suited for family holidays or even couples looking to get away, but the ever growing interest caters for all peoples with open-air concerts, beach parties and jazz festivals and a packed summer programme with a whole host of events.
