A number of board games are created to be played completely by only two individuals and never more. These board games are suitably created for playing together with your wife, friend, or companion. The Abalone is a strategy board game played by each player having two sets of fourteen marbles each in a hexagonal game board with 61 spaces. The goal of the game is to push the opponents marbles out of the hexagonal boards edges. Another game is the Chinese Checkers and is played on a star-shaped board by moving the pieces to the opposite end of the players base. The Othello, played with two sets of pieces on an 8 by 8 board, has an objective of preserving the majority of the pieces throughout the game and the player with the highest number of remaining pieces wins. Other board games that can be played by only two players are Checkers, Suguroku, Kamisado, Stratego, Plateau, Obsession, Backgammon, Cross and Circle, and Downfall.

The Elating Adventure Board Game Dungeon

Adventure board games make players depict unique characters that can acquire gears, augment its abilities and attributes as the game carries on. Released in 1975, the Dungeon created by S. Schwab, David R. Megarry, Steve Winter, and Gary Gygax was the pioneer in adventure board games. The game is comprised of two to four players each taking unique characters in the game, which includes a rulebook, four Parcheesi-inspired playing pieces (colored white, green, red, and blue), folding vinyl cloth game board, and one pair of six-sided dice. Included in the game which fascinates players is a range of monster and treasure cards which is colored black and white on the front and at the back are color coded representing the different six increasing dungeon levels: gold for first, orange for second, red for third, magenta for fourth, green for fifth, and blue for sixth. Every players objective is to accumulate the most treasures and conquer the monster to be the first to return to the dungeon entrance. Dungeon and Dragons are later versions of the original game.

Games that encourage players to go for certain objectives such as to go against some players or against the game itself are classified as cooperative board games. It is game which focuses more on team cooperation over competition, either winning or losing as a group.
