The Benefits of Split Air Conditioning Systems
Heat pumps or single air conditioning units may do for one particular room in your
office or building, but if you have a large area to cover and you want even coverage of cooling air throughout, you can't go past a split air conditioning system.
As the name suggests, split air conditioning systems comprise of two separate but complimentary systems to distribute cool air throughout a building. The first system is the cooling tower. This system cools water to about 4-5 degrees Celsius before being passed on through piping. The cooling tower is often installed externally to the building, in many cases it is on the roof of an office complex. The second system is the internal distribution system. Once the water is cold it's passed through a network of pipes to the air handlers which push the now water-cooled air into the interior of the building.
The most obvious benefit of the split system is the even distribution of air. Many air conditioning systems may be effective, but only in terms of the specific area they're in. Due to the nature of the split system, all areas of the building are seen to evenly, creating a constant atmosphere and no walking from cold to warm rooms.
As mentioned before, the main component of the split system, the cooling tower, is located outside the building. This is a major benefit when space is at a premium such as in office buildings where effective use of space is imperative. The second component, whilst being inside the building, is unobtrusive and takes up no actual floor space. The space saving benefits speak for themselves.
The split air conditioning system is famous for its efficiency, a benefit that will see you saving money and feeling greener. One large unit servicing the whole building will obviously run cheaper than several smaller, internal air conditioning systems. Imagine the hassle of having to turn on each unit separately. Now imagine the running cost of all of those units cooling at the same time. And unless they were all constantly kept at the exact same temperature, they would be working against each other.
Maintenance is another major consideration. You've got one system to worry about, not dozens. Keeping up with regular maintenance is much simpler and if you keep to a schedule and have your system checked out at least once a year your split system will last that much longer.
During construction or renovation is the best time to install a
split system air conditioning. It does take a while to install, so trying to get one put in to your building whilst trying to carry on with normal work may cause problems.
Consider installing a split air conditioning system for maximum efficiency, ease of use and environmental friendliness. Then, the only thing you'll have to worry about is what temperature to set it to.
