The Consequence Of Drug Abuse On Students

According to recent medical studies, there is an average of 40-50 elements that trigger addiction for the younger generation

. Yet such factors could be listed into two basic or primary factors that push a teenager into addiction. The first is "social acknowledgement" this is when a person takes drugs as a way to feel accepted by society. The other is using narcotics in order to escape the harsh reality of their daily lives. These are the two primary factors that drive teenagers into taking drugs. Even if the factors vary, all that remains the same is the consequences the user faces.

Students who have a substance abuse problem would certainly instantly show signs and symptoms of their addiction possibly at home or in school. At home, the very first thing you can notice from a student who has a substance abuse problem is that they wish to be left alone, grow to be easily irritated, have anxiety attacks and decrease in appetite. In school, students who's into narcotics would show signs like violent behavior, anxiety attacks, distancing from friends and distancing from physical activities.

There are some students who feel that they need to experience alcohol and drugs to be accepted by their friends or the society. This is a mixture of curiosity and stupidity where a teenager becomes curios about the effects of drugs while being stupid enough to really try them out just to be accepted by their friends. The first time they feel the effects of drug abuse they are not able to control their high. This is the reason students eventually get caught the very first time they use drugs simply because they do not act like themselves when they are under the influence of it.

Over time students may gradually get addicted to drugs if they crave for the high they experienced the first time they used it. After the second time that they are under the influence, their particular tolerance rises a notch making them crave for more and more as time passes. They may believe that they are in control of the problem but they are totally wrong. They are now full pledged drug users who have an addiction with narcotics and other addictive substances. Thinking all along that the drug abuse effects can be easily dealt with and they can stop whenever they want to, the bad news is that they are wrong and someone needs to help them understand regarding their addiction and the therapy they need.
