The Difference Between a Synthetic and a Natural Latex Mattress

The Difference Between a Synthetic and a Natural Latex Mattress

It is well known that sleep is necessary for survival. A body requires a minimum of 8 hours of sleep each day in order to

maintain its sanity. But, there are many factors that can distract from your rest including noise and the mattress that you

are lying on. The result can sometimes be a backache which you really don't need. You need to make sure that you get

sufficient comfort from your mattress.

A latex mattress is a type of mattress that has springs underneath them. The mattresses that have springs wear overtime and

can be very hard on you back. Although a latex mattress can provide the comfort while resting or sleeping you can select

between a firm and a soft latex mattress. Both types offer great sleep.

There are basically two types of latex; Synthetic and natural. These two types provide the same comfort and are only

different when it comes to durability and impact. To begin with, natural latex is naturally extracted from trees. The saps of

these trees are gathered, processed, and then formed into a molded piece of foam.

Next, they are placed into the mattress frame. But, these latex foams that are all natural have some inconsistencies with

uneven spreading. As a result of this problem, many mattress manufacturers have started to blend natural latex foam with

synthetic foam in order to compensate for such unevenness of the material when it is spread on a mattress frame. This is

known as the Dunlop procedure.

These are the main differences between a synthetic and a natural latex foam mattress. While the latex foam that is all

natural in a mattress can have less of a negative impact on the environment because these substances are primarily derived

from the sap of trees that are a renewable resource. Therefore, the best choice is to combine it to reduce the impact of the

latter. The fact is that latex mattresses are now mostly available with a mixture of two latex foams. You have to determine

which type of latex foam has a better component over the other. A latex mattress will provide a good night's sleep and are

also naturally antibacterial. A latex mattress is perfect for people who have allergies and for patients who spend a lot of

time in bed. If used properly, they can also last for decades.
