There are three widths of label tape for this label printer and they are resistant to rain, sun, temperature from negative 80 to positive 150 degrees Celsius which means they can go to outer space. The GL-200 label printer tape by Brother is also resistant to chemical, oil, abrasions and humidity. These label tapes are offered in black print on white label to the fluorescent and transparent backing to make some fancy and colorful labels. The Brother GL-200 label tape also comes in a strong adhesive type and a flexi ID that comes in the specialist non-laminated type.

This printer comes with some really fancy borders, such as the banner with curly ends, the sweet wrapper, the callout, the wooden plank and the rounded rectangle. With these fancy borders you can really add a fancy and lively look to your labels.

The Brother GL-200 can be run with the mains power adapter or six AA batteries but neither one is included with the label printer. Another accessory that is made for this label printer is a case that can be attached to your belt loop if it cannot fit into your pocket. More accessories include a replacement cutter blade and a tape separator tool.

The GL-200 has an alphabetical keyboard and the display accommodates no more than 12 characters about 6 mm high in just one line. There are around 83 symbols available but they are only 5 x 7 pixels. These symbols are divided into thirteen groups and you can scroll through the groups by using the Symbols key. There is also an Accents key which allows you to include accented characters.

There is only one font available with this label printer but there are three sizes and each size has three levels of character compression. This font can be printed on two lines of text and can be printed in mirror image for the transparent label tape. This label printer also allows you to print vertically so that labels can be printed in the upright position.

After much use the label cutter can become clogged with adhesive residue so this label printer is equipped with a sensor on the manual cutter to display an error if the tape did not retract fully after cut. This Brother GL-200 label printer prints at a speed of 10 mm/second with a resolution of 180 dpi which will give you about 65 dots across a 12 mm label tape.
