HTC continue to release new handsets on a regular basis

, and now a black version of the impressive Smartphone, the HTC magic is available.

Offering impressive versatility and a long list of key features, this touch screen handset offers internet connection, digital camera and touch screen technology, and utilizes the renowned Android operating system.

The handset measures 113x55x13.7mm and weighs in at 118.5 grams. It's relatively light weight and slim profile makes it a comfortable phone to hold and use on the go. A large 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touch screen displays 65,000 colours within 320x480 pixels for high quality content display. When the phone is tilted, an inbuilt accelerometer kicks in and rotates the on screen image accordingly so it can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms. As well as touch screen navigation, a trackball offers an alternative means of browsing menus.

Several formats of music files can be assigned as ringtones, including MP3 and WAV along with the option to download polyphonic ringtones. A speakerphone system is built in allowing a convenient method of hands free communication.

Internal memory in the HTC Magic is 288MB RAM and 512MB ROM as standard. However, should users require extra storage for media files and other data, a micro SD slot is present which can accommodate a memory card of a much higher capacity.

The HTC Magic offers a whole host of connectivity options so users are always connected when out and about. The main method of connecting to networks is via class 10 versions of GPRS and EDGE. When in an area with 3G coverage, this is available at speeds of up to 7.2Mbps HSDPA, and HSUPA at 2Mbps. It has Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows the handset to utilize the power of local wireless routers for an even faster internet connection. Bluetooth version 2.0 offers a convenient means of sharing files and data with friends provided they are in the same vicinity and have a compatible handset. GPS allows certain applications to function based on the location of the handset. Finally, a mini USB connection allows the phone to be connected to a computer for transferring and backing up files and data.

A built in media player supports MP3 and MP4 music and video files. Additional entertainment options include a range of pre-installed games. A built in digital camera offering 3.15MP operates at a pixel resolution of 2048x1536 pixels meaning reasonably high quality still images can be taken, and the process is made easier thanks to the autofocus feature. It can also shoot video as an alternative to taking still images. This is in QVGA quality at a rate of 15 frames per second.

To handle the range of applications, HTC have opted to use the Android Operating system. This, coupled with a powerful Qualcomm processor make the phone a fast and smooth operator.

The HTC Desire is a versatile touch screen handset, and this is sure to appeal to an array of users, and bring new fans who would have previously overlooked the brand.
