The Hotel Industry And Its Impact On The Job Market
Unfortunately not everyone can afford to neither buy houses nor have friends and
families within every location, it is this idea that has led to several thousand hotels being built and developed across the UK. Hotels play a major part within the tourist industry, with more being built it has created a number of new jobs being available on the job market. There are different departments within the hotels which cover a variety of different job sectors; it is this variety that requires the need for people with different skills and experiences.
Depending on the size of the hotel, the number of staff can range from 50 100+, the hotel employees includes, housekeepers, front of house staff, porters, chefs, bar staff, restaurant staff, cleaners, managers, recruitment team, administration and finance team etc. Hotels are a customer service based environment nearly all of the roles would therefore require excellent customer service and communication skills. As hotels have visitors from across the globe staying there, it may be required to have a few multilingual staff working there so that they can communicate with the foreign customers in case they are unable to speak the English language.
There are temporary and permanent positions as well as full and part time being available. Some of the roles would require the person to work unsociable hours due to the nature of the role which may include working night shifts and early morning shifts. With such a vast amount of different departments to work in, this has resulted in a number of jobs being available; the hotel industry therefore makes a big impact on the job market and the leisure and tourism industry. Within nearly all the locations throughout the UK, there are at least two hotels available within each location and some would have even more. With the increase in the number of people travelling and people coming to the UK for business and holidays, it has encouraged more hotels to open up.
Working within this industry provides people with good promotional opportunities as well the opportunities to meet new people and learn new skills and experiences. There are many hotel chains across the UK and the world which provides discounted benefits to employees who work there. The roles are increasingly popular and many of them can be applied easily online. Without the hotel industry, there may not be as much positions available on the job market.
