The Learning Process Of The Rapidly Growing Mind
Adults and children think and learn at a different pace
. While adults learn by practically doing things, children learn by observing them. All children learn when their physical and mental needs are met. The sense of safety and security is the most important thing in their learning process. For example, we often notice children avoiding some people. If a child develops a negative impression about a person, the child feels agitated to approach that person. Thus like everyone, kids also need a free environment so that they can learn things by interpreting the meaning of it on their own. Play is considered by child psychologists and physicians to be an important vehicle for the toddlers proper social, emotional and cognitive development. Children learn the best at their own pace through active, hands-on interactions. But whatever may be our approach, children always construct their knowledge of the world by understanding it in their own way. It is very important for parents to give their children enough learning materials, choices and opportunities which may help in their process of growth. Just as every human being needs the society and its social support, kids are also not an exception to the rule. By interacting with other children and people, they also develop a sense of social belonging.
Interactive and creative play items are considered to be the best ways of teaching different things to the growing kids. Every child is born with a creative potential, but this potential may be stifled if care is not taken to nurture and stimulate the creativity within them. Creativity shows one's uniqueness. The constant interference of the adults may diminish the confidence level of the children. When kids accomplish a task on their own, they develop a feeling that they can do things without any ones help. This helps a lot in boosting up their self confidence. Parents can also encourage them by offering small rewards on their achievements. Creative equipments like books, records, drawing materials, objects to make sounds with, clay, and blocks are of great benefit to the growing children. When the little ones are engaged in activities like solving puzzles or making buildings out of scattered boxes, they start thinking from different angles so that a particular shape can be given to it.
It is not only what the parents like that their children must necessarily follow, but on the contrary, kids have a mind of their own and like to do things their way. So parents should not force their child on any particular activity. Doing so may make the kid annoyed. A child may not like to sing songs, but may love to read books or play cricket. So the child must be left free to explore and discover options to its liking. Parental supervision is no doubt needed, but this should not turn into interfering into their childs affairs. The development and learning in a child results from the interaction of a childs inner maturity and the environment. This includes both the physical and social worlds that the child lives in. They attempt to store all the things that happen to them in a logical form. Development advances when children have opportunities to practice newly acquired skills especially when they experience a challenge just beyond the level of their present mastery.
