The planet is in jeopardy because man who is supposedly its caretaker has failed miserably in his mission. Man not only failed to protect the environment, he has caused it severe devastation in the attempt to sate his seemingly insatiable appetite for energy. Man abandoned nature for his own convenience. Man has forsaken the environment many times; not caring how much the planet hurt as long as his craving for energy is satisfied. Man is guilty of defiling the environment and it is only fitting that he is the one who corrects his mistakes.
