The New Look Of Audio Visual Jobs

Changing technology has forced a new era in creativity which has touched almost every skilled job in the world

. If a person wants to stay ahead of the curve in his position, he must stay ahead of the technology as well. Thinking outside of the box has become the norm. We must basically throw the box away. This thinking can be no truer than for the men and women who work in Audio/Visual (A/V) jobs.

As creative technicians, it is not possible to compete in todays economy without keeping up-to-date on the technology that surrounds the craft. It is vital that A/V techs continually get training on the newest in innovations that are presenting themselves on the horizon. Also, A/V techs must consider keeping an open mind about where to find jobs. Not only are television, radio and cinema companies employing A/V techs, but schools, churches, and businesses are as well. This article explores some of the not-so-obvious places to consider looking for work for people looking for audio visual jobs.

There are many jobs that are currently open for production assistants and sound techs on a contract basis (especially during the holidays when churches and schools are producing their Christmas program). Contract work is great because it allows you to be your own boss and set your own rates. Be careful not to set your rate too high or too low as you want to be taken seriously. You can plan a whole season of work around your own schedule and enjoy the flexibility.

If you have a knack for working with younger people, maybe you should consider a career in teaching Audio/Visual technology classes in the local school or college. As the need for more A/V techs rises, so does the need for more people to learn the skills. Teaching is a great way to stay up-to-date on the newest technology through research (so that you can teach it to students) and have an impact on a young mind.

Businesses also have a need for Audio Visual techs. From television and print advertising to corporate presentations, A/V techs are needed to present a professional image to the world and brand the business as a leader in the industry. The more creative and innovative you are with your skills, the more you can demand in pay from a business that needs those skills. Also, the more businesses need to present their competitive edge, the more they need people in Audio Visual jobs to create those presentations.

The point is that there are many areas where audio visual jobs are vacant and needing the skills of a creative person to fill the position. If you are that creative person, you must show your future employer that you have what it takes. Do not be boxed in by thinking that only the television and radio media are using audio visual techs these days. Break free and you may find your job in the most unusual of places.
