The New Wildfire From HTC-A Great Mid Range Smartphone
The New Wildfire From HTC-A Great Mid Range Smartphone
HTC have moved away from their high end Android handsets with the new Wildfire, a mid range phone that despite lacking the specification of some of the companies other models, benefits from a user friendly interface and an ultra modern design.
Looking at the Wildfire for the first time, one thing that immeadiately grabs your attention is the shape of the design. Rather than following the usual trend for tall and narrow handsets, this model appears to be more square like. The result is a phone that fits nicely in the palm of your hand, and also one that stands out from its competitors thanks to its different look. The display on this unit is smaller than on other models at 3.2", yet still remaining large enough to function perfectly well for web browsing and multi media usage. At 240 x 320 pixels, the QVGA resolution is less than we have become accustomed to, yet thaks to the always excellent HTC build quality, the screen still looks crystal clear. Capable of displaying up to 16 million colours, as well as offering responsive capacitve touch sensitivity, the screen is an impressive aspect of this new model. Beneath the screen are four Android navigational buttons, or should you prefer the handset comes with the popular Optical Trackpad. This offers the user a good alternative to the touchscreen, whilst also doubling as the shutter button when the camera facility is activated.
The HTC Wildfire sports a good quality 5 mega pixel camera facility. This is perfect for capturing images whilst on the move, an benefits from the inclusion of an LED flash, improving image quality on snaps taken in poor lighting conditions. The Wildfire is fairly limited with regards to internal memory, with just 384 MB of RAM and 512MB ROM. The phone does offer potential for increasing storage capacity by virtue of the micro SD card slot that it offers. The extra capacity may come in handy should you want to use the handset to capture moving images. This is recorded in MPEG 4 format at a resolution of up to 352 x 288. The handset impresses with its audio facilities. Alongside the welecomed stereo jack plug there is a built in RDS FM tuner, giving an alternative to your own audio files. A host of formats is accepted and the audio player interface is easy to navigate and displays cover art clearly. The HTC Wildfire should prove the perfect phone for newcomers to the smartphone market, as well as experienced users looking for a solid model which performs superbly.
The HTC Wildfire and the HTC Desire White are available now.
