The Rise Of Mba As A Higher Education Degree

In India, postindependence, the need for effective management institutes was felt at various levels

. In an effort to boost education, the government of India came up with several educational policy programs which led to the establishment of premier business schools in the country. These premier b-schools had every element of professionalism. Armed with world class faculty and excellent placements these premier institutes created a niche for management educational in the educational world. This was the phase a few decades back. Now, in the last one decade, MBA, or the master of business administration degree has evolved to become one of the most sought after courses in India. Why has been MBA a degree that has gained immense popularity. One of the reasons for the popularity of MBA courses in India and consequently, the growing fame of several MBA institutes in Delhi and several other metropolises is that these institutes provide placements.

After the doors of globalization opened in India, i.e, post 1990s, MBA became famous because several MNCs and offshore companies starting showing immense faith in the Indian talent. As trade and business further improved, it led to the rise of MBA as a hallowed degree. Seeking admissions to best colleges became an extremely competitive affair and the brightest brains started filling the seats of top management educational institutes.

It is certainly true that many things have made MBA as a popular degree. One of them is the assurance of a job after completing the degree. After all, the basic goal of education, especially higher education is to make a student ready for the professional life. Definitely, education empowers students to become holistic human beings but if we see it from totally practical purposes, getting placed in a good company helps in morale booster. We all can relate to the joys of getting our first salary! Also, as MBA education has become professional and companies have started hunting for top talent, there has been a race to establish business schools. While some business schools have been providing top class education to students, there have been various others whore just failing to provide what is needed the most quality education and industry oriented professionals.

It has been these issues that have been time and again highlighted in various government policies. While there is no dearth of good MBA Courses in Delhi, there are some institutes that have been duping candidates on the name of placements and bright careers. Many institutes charge extremely high fee from candidates and later, fail to give them placements. In view of such recurring incidents, UGC and other government authorized institutions have cracked upon several MBA Colleges in India which dont provide what they promise. While the current scenario is certainly not gloomy, students must surely take all necessary steps to get in colleges that offer them excellent placements and have good professors to help them succeed.
