He worked in Miller Brother's Cap Company for some time, and after gathering years of experience, he decided to sire his own company. With a start-up money of $5000 and 14 employees, he founded the New Era Cap Company. Focusing on men's headgear, his fore New Era hat product was named Gatsby. From the bottom, Ehrhardt worked on his success. In 1982, when Harold Koch died and his son David became the company's CEO, New Era branched out to the states and sold millions of caps each year; creating a name in the sports industry. Now, New Era Company is recognized as the stellar of all headwear producers; the company remains unbeatable in producing high-quality and high-fashioned hats for over a century! The First Fitted Cap. New Era caps are professional baseball caps. The 59Fifty cap is the first fitted cap that is worn by baseball professionals since its creation in 1954. The 59Fifty has been the official cap of Major League Baseball players for years. The New Era hats were more renowned when American people started wearing the caps of their baseball idols. By then, 59Fifty became the Americans favorite fitted cap. The company continues to boom until they become the exclusive cap supplier of Major League Baseball in 1991. Still on Top for Years. From a small shop with only tens of employees, today, New Era is the leading headwear company around the globe.
