The Superiority of Biometric Technology

Unfortunately, in the discussion of security, people often forget that the concept of security will involve several components, namely: Mathematics, man, and the management.

Security by using the password for this time has many weaknesses. The first weakness is that it only has the verification function. Meanwhile, the second weakness is the fact that many people only use one password for everything, ranging from e-mail, the use of an ATM card, up to a membership of mailing list.

To overcome the weaknesses of the use of passwords, biometric technology is developed. It is a security method that uses body parts like fingerprints, the geometry of hand, retina (eyes), voice and face as a password replacement.

Biometric technology is developed because it can fulfill two functions, namely identification and verification. In addition, it can not be lost, can not be forgotten and not be easily falsified because its existence is inherent in human. Also, this technology will not be the same, so its uniqueness would be more guaranteed.

The concept of this technology using fingerprint has been initiated since 1901 by E. Henry. This system focuses on fingers and toes.

But, this time, the latest biometric technology by using face, namely Face Recognition Technology (Face Recognition Technology), has been developed. This system can provide better security because it is not easily imitated or lost. It is known that its existence is inherent in the body parts of human, so it cannot be changed except because of injury or other incidents that can cause the face damage.

With the lists of reasons above, this system is already widely used for personal needs, offices, businesses, schools, hospitals, and government. This system is proven to have high security level. It is also easy to use.
