The Things One Should Know before Applying for a Scholarship
While applying for a grant or a scholarship there can appear a number of questions
. 1. The first question is: "Why is it necessary to apply?" The reason for application. It is interesting to know that thousands of people apply for this or that prestigious scholarship. They decided for themselves to try their luck. Some of these people win, others will lose. But you have opportunity to win. Why not to try? 2. "What is so useful in these scholarships for me?" Maybe you still do not know but scholarships are not for your parents and friends. It is something for you if you value your knowledge and the process of self-development; it is for you if you are open to new information and impressions. 3. "What kind of scholarship should I apply for?" To answer this question you have to think carefully about the type of support that you need (books and tuition or maybe a research), about the support you really need and about the quantity of time you have for search. 4. "How do I Apply?" you may address to the Office of Student Academic Grants and Awards. But you should remember about the application deadline. So do not be late. 5. "What should I support that office with?" You should write a letter about yourself (a so-called Personal Statements). This part is rather difficult as you have to write something about yourself in a critical manner. It is not easy as it may seem because one moment you stop and you have nothing to write about. But do not be in a hurry; just write the way you think, the way you feel. Be objective about yourself; support your ideas with arguments. Another thing you should provide is a Letter of Recommendations. This is the list of the most important ideas which will help you to apply for a scholarship.
