The Versatile New Htc One S Includes The Android Ics Operating System
The HTC One S is one of the latest handsets from the increasingly popular smartphone manufacturer
, and one which showcases the new One range. Running the new Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, the HTC One S also boasts a spec list including the likes of a high resolution touchscreen, 8 megapixel camera and powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core processor.
In this article I will take a closer look at these features so you can decide if it is the right smartphone for you.
Screen
The screen on the HTC One S is one of the most impressive from HTC thus far. Measuring 4.3 inches, it gives the phone similar dimensions as the HTC Sensation XE and the Samsung Galaxy S2. The resolution of this screen is 540x 960, which results in excellent display quality of your on screen content, making it an ideal device for those who like to use their phone for multimedia content like watching videos, photo slideshows and playing Android games downloaded from Google Play (formally known as Android Market). The screen utilises Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen technology, which is one of the first HTC phones to do so, along with its higher end counterpart the HTC One X. There are multiple benefits to this screen technology, ranging from a high degree of responsiveness when navigating the HTC Sense UI, outstanding levels of brightness even when in direct sunlight) and wide viewing angles.
Camera
The HTC One S is by no means groundbreaking in terms of its credentials as a camera phone, but it is on par with many high end handsets. At 8 megapixels, users can expect excellent quality from their still images, which are easy to take with the desired results, thanks to a package of image enhancing features which includes autofocus, face detection, LED flash, and even the ability to capture still images whilst capturing video footage. Video footage can be captured in a maximum resolution of 1080p, which is the top end of high definition. The camera itself is easy to use, thanks to the simple interface of the camera app provided by HTC Sense.
Processor
The HTC One S has one of the most powerful dual-core processors out there, with a clock speed of 1.5 GHZ. The HTC Sensation XE has the same feature, and upon its release just a few months ago, made this the most powerful smartphone available (in terms of processing power). Since then though, we have entered the era of quad-core processors in smartphones like the one found in the HTC One X. This means that the One S is by no means the most powerful smartphone out there, but still provides excellent performance from both its hardware and software.
The HTC One S is arguably one of the most appealing phones currently available; the package of features outlined in this article, along with other features like its innovative unibody design, and of course the new Android software, combine to create a smartphone which ticks all the boxes. If you are serious about owning the very best out there, the HTC One X may be a better choice, but for the majority of users, the HTC One S will make a great choice.
