What this boils down to is the fact that wheel chocks are a necessary part of the economy, not only for their production and sales, but also for the protection they offer in keeping shipped goods and people surrounding those items safe. OSHA, the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) all have specified wheel chocks as requirements for safety in each industry, with OSHA covering many industries including farming (primary sector), construction (secondary sector), and shipping (tertiary sector).

The impact of wheel chocks on the world covers various sectors as well. They are made from recycled rubber or metal both originally raw materials found in the primary sector, or from a product from the quatemary sector polyurethane developed from reaction injection molding (RIM) technology.
